The selection of
materials for storage of H2O2 must be undertakeen with utmost care as
otherwise decomposition problems will be encountered.
When packed or stored
with improper materials, Hydrogen Peroxide causes the containers to
corrode and the impurities decompose it to lose nascent oxygen. Therefore
it is recommended to select a suitable container according to Hydrogen
Peroxide concentration.
Hydrogen Peroxide is
compatible only with Austenitic Grade Stainless steel, High Purity
Aluminium, Al Mg alloys High Density Poly Ethylene & Glass.
For Bulk
storage/transportation of Hydrogen peroxide either SS316 or Aluminium
Tanks are deployed. For packing Hydrogen Peroxide in smaller
quantities High Density Poly Ethylene carbuoys & barrels are used.
APL uses high quality
virgin High Molecular Weight High Density Poly Ethylene with ultra
violet stabilized Master batch to manufacture carbuoys at their Captive
manufacturing Plant. The HDPE carbuoy manufacturing facility has state
of art Machines fitted with Parison programmers to control the
thickness of the carbuoys. The quality of raw materials used coupled
with the state of art machines ensure that each and every carbuoy produced
meets IMDG requirements for safe transportation of Hydrogen Peroxide.
Carboys manufactured at
APL are rigorously tested for their Mechanical strength to withstand
transportation requirements. APL has set up a full fledged laboratory
and installed equipments for checking the carbuoys manufactured by
APL comply with IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) code.
Other grades of Hydrogen
Peroxide carbuoy be packed in small capacity containers (0.5kg to 5 kg) |
